"In line with our plans for expansion, the Group is currently installing ten new production lines in our fourth plant which will provide us with an additional capacity of approximately 2.9 billion pieces of gloves which would bring our total capacity to 6.2 billion pieces of gloves per annum."

"From a humble beginning of a One-Line-Operation, Hartalega has experienced tremendous growth and evolved into a sizeable company of 33 Production Lines, producing over 5 billion gloves per year and GROWING."

"Among our many firsts is our creation of the double former dipping lines which produce 30,000 pieces of gloves per hour in comparison to the industry average of 8,000 to 10,000 pieces of gloves per hour."

Topglove ?

1。 Harta Vision: To be the Number One glove manufacturer that produces the BEST and most INNOVATIVE gloves in the world; and to be recognized as a CARING company to the community and environment.

Harta

It’s Sunny Days Ahead for Nitrile Gloves

Rubber News, November / December 2008

The rubber glove sector has the potential to be the flavour of the moment in the Malaysian market, with the current turbulent financial environment in the US and its knock-on effect on the global market. "What else if not Malaysian gloves?" a research analyst remarked.

Growing Market

The market for rubber gloves is expected to continue to grow. The emergence of various dangerous diseases, including SARS, variants of bird flu and bio-terrorism, has increased further demand for gloves worldwide. Thanks to the mandatory use of rubber gloves in developed countries, particularly the US and the EU, as well as living standards in the developing world, the use of rubber gloves has become a routine practice.

Global rubber glove consumption is expected to maintain a growth rate of 10% a year with the current total annual global consumption at 135 billion pieces. Major glove makers

here should be able to keep up with demand considering they have been expanding at an annual compounded rate of 25% to 30% over the last four years.

But the cost of production is rising thanks to the short -term spike in latex prices and the high tariff in electricity and natural gas. This has forced industry analysts to cut their earnings forecasts for glove makers. Not surprisingly share prices of glove companies have fallen further from last year. One of the measures glove manufacturers me taking is raising the prices of their rubber gloves. It remains to be seen if they will be able to cover all the cost increases maintain their profit margins. It helps, however, that Malaysia is the world"s biggest producer of NR and nitrile (SR) gloves, with a global market share of about 60%. This gives the industry here a pricing power.  Moreover, most. healthcare centres spend less than one per cent of their budget on rubber gloves with much room to stretch.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (MARGMA) has raised its forecast on rubber glove exports to RM 6.35 billion for 2008 (compared to RM 5.88 billion for 2007), thanks to a stronger US dollar and increasing demand of medical gloves at hospitals throughout the world. MARGMA initially forecast 5% and then 6%. With the latest export figures, MARGMA is more optimistic to push it to a moderate 8% growth for the full year. Malaysia exported RM 3.16 billion worth of rubber gloves for the first half year, up 11% over the corresponding period last year.

Nitrile Glove Share Rising

In early 2000"s, there was the trend in the US of a switch from NR gloves to SR gloves. Until today, some American healthcare organizations continue to negatively perceive that NR gloves cause skin irritation. Hypersensitivity to NR protein allergens, although occurring to a very small number of customers, has led to negative perception of NR gloves in America. This has led to a preference for nitrile gloves that are protein-free. Consequently, the market share of SR medical gloves in the US increased from 18.6%in 2006 to 26.8% in 2007, while that of NR gloves declined from 48% to about 41%, according to a study.

The nitrile glove sub-sector has experienced burgeoning demand in the US and Europe. The demand for nitrile gloves in hospitals there just keeps increasing. Large scale production by major producers is bringing down the world"s average price of nitrile gloves. Five years ago, very few hospitals could afford nitrile gloves. Now, it is fast becoming the preferred choice, being made affordable, with quality maintained. More healthcare organizations me switching from NR gloves to nitrile gloves.

Global supply of nitrile gloves is tight. For example, in a statement posted on the Internet, Medline Industries Inc. (largest privately-owned manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies and services in the US) said Hong Ray Enterprises of China, a major manufacturer of nitrile gloves, informed that it faced force majeure conditions and would be unable to meet its supply agreements to Medline and others.

Raw material polymer latex prices were stable in recent years, but in the last few months, prices increased sharply. This occurred because crude oil prices surged to a record and a flre broke out in the plant of a big producer of polymer latex, which reduced global supply.

Nitrile glove makers face a much shorter time lag than NR glove producers in adjusting their prices for higher raw material costs, as polymer latex, unlike NR, is not traded on any futures exchange. However, it is easier this time to adjust prices because all the cost increases are transparent; everyone in the industry circle knows about the raw material and energy cost increases.

The nitrile glove sub-sector indeed faces very competitive market conditions and thinning margins. Innovative producers will, for example, focus on technological expertise and increase production capacity, adopt measures to mitigate energy cost and improve upon efficient  production abilities and processes through R&D.

Rising global demand for nitrile gloves has driven the world"s top two nitrile latex suppliers to invest substantially in Malaysia. Synthomer Sdn Bhd, established locally in 2001, has seen burgeoning demand for nitrile latex from glove makers in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and China. PolymerLatex GmbH, the world"s second largest nit.rile supplier, as a new entrant in Malaysia, expects its world"s fourth plant in Malaysia completed in 2009.

Global Natural Rubber Output See Huge Drops

April 18, 2009 – The following article refers to the reduced availability of Natural Rubber latex.  Medisafe continues to believe that Natural Rubber latex prices are influenced by a number of exogenous factors which remain volatile. This raw material volatility continues to create price instability for distributors, customers and ultimately end-users of Natural Rubber latex products.

Medisafe Technologies continues to believe the pricing stability offered by Chloroprene and Nitrile, coupled with the protein-free and physical properties that these gloves offer, make them a superior choice to Natural Rubber in most instances.

Please feel free to contact us to determine how Medisafe Technologies can best help you with your hand-protection needs.

Kind regards.

Global Natural Rubber Output to see Biggest Drop Since 1993

Singapore, April 18 (Reuters) – Global natural rubber output will fall 2.2 percent to 8.9 million tonnes in 2009, its biggest drop in 16 years, as Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia produce less, the Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries said.

“The 2.2 percent decline in natural rubber production anticipated in 2009 is the biggest decline in the past 16 years,"" the group said. ""Global production of natural rubber had declined by 2.6 percent during 1993.”

The ANRPC accounts for 94 percent of global natural rubber production. Other members are India, Vietnam, China, and Sri Lanka.

“(In) Thailand, the largest natural rubber producing country accounting for about 33 percent of the global supply, production dropped by 13.9 percent during the first two months of 2009 on a year-over-year basis,” it said in its March report.

Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia agreed in December to take 915,000 tonnes of rubber out of the market in 2009, or a sixth of their 2007 combined exports of 5.5 million tonnes to support prices as a global economic downturn cut demand for tyres.

Cash rubber prices have more than halved from July"s 56-year peak around $3.20 a kg.

“It"s the right time for the old trees to be replanted. Farmers think this is the best time to cut the trees, while waiting for the economy to bounce back,"" said a dealer in Kuala Lumpur. ""It"s their own initiative.”

In its March report, the ANRPC pegged Thailand"s output at 3.075 million tonnes in 2009, down from 3.090 million last year. The group offered no estimates for this year"s Thai production in its February report issued last month, but revised down output for Indonesia and India from that report.

Global Rubber Gloves Market: An Analysis
Koncept Analytics, March 2009, Pages: 28

The global demand for rubber gloves has increased due to recent regulations on occupational safety. The demand for rubber gloves is expected to grow by 10% per annum. At present though rubber gloves has not been affected much from the global crisis, the smaller manufacturers are facing stiff competition and higher operational costs given the volatile latex prices over the past two years.

The strong growth partly reflects higher selling prices following the rise in natural gas and latex prices in mid-2008. The demand for rubber gloves is increasing from India, China and Vietnam due to increase in health and hygiene awareness. Currently, Malaysia exports rubber gloves to the US, European Union, Latin America, China and India. Demand for lower-end powdered latex gloves is popular among developing countries whose end-users are more cost-conscious. Powder-free latex and nitrile gloves are preferred by developed countries namely the United States and Europe.

Malaysia is the largest worldwide exporter of rubber gloves whereas Thailand accounts for less than half of the Malaysian market share. Malaysia’s strength is its productive labor. Each worker in the rubber gloves industry in Malaysia is estimated to be nearly three times more productive compared to Thailand and twice to Indonesian workers.

The awareness of healthcare and hygiene is driving the demand for rubber gloves in the developed countries. Regulations have played a key role in the growing rubber gloves demand, by making it mandatory in all types of industries. The ageing population is another factor influencing demand for healthcare expenditures; the world’s population aged above 80 has been increasing at a rapid rate of 3% over the past 20 years.

This report analyzes the rubber gloves market. It gives an overview of the global rubber gloves market with rising demand trends. It talks about top exporting countries and further discusses Malaysian market and export destinations of Malaysia. The opportunity section highlights scope for Nitrile Gloves in the present market scenario by replacing Natural Latex Gloves. The report also discusses leading players in the market, with an overview of their business and strategies

In relation thereto, the Board of Directors of Hartalega also wishes to advise

Income Tax Act, 1967. A letter advising on such matter accompanying the payout
would be sent to all the entitled shareholders of the company as at 15 December
